What does the UEMS do for surgeons?
The UEMS Surgery Section recommends standards of surgical training and practices. It assesses surgeons’ training through courses and examinations. Successful surgeons become Fellows of the European Board of Surgery.
The UEMS Section of Surgery also audits and accredits training centres for specialist surgeons, and reviews applications of educational events for credit points for the benefit of continuing medical education of surgeons in Europe.
Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (F.E.B.S.)
The Fellowship of the UEMS is a significant high-level indication of professional competence and excellence. It has become a quality mark, and it is becoming increasingly prestigious among professionals and institutions.
This title and the high level assessment which leads to the conferment of it reflects the ongoing important standardisation, harmonisation, and quality assurance process in medicine in Europe.
